Muhtasham Kashani

Muhtasham Kashani (1500-1588) is an Iranian poet who lived in the time of Safavid time and had an influence on Persian and Day of Ashura poetry

. He was born in Kashan and died there. He is well-known because of his poem about Imam al-Husayn (a)'s martyrdom which is known as Tarkib band Mohtasham Kaashaani (Kamal-al-Din Mohtasham Kashani, Persian: (1528–1588) was a Persian poet of Safavid’s period. He is mainly known by his elegy on martyrdom of Imam Hossein and his family.

His main job, like his father, was cloth industry (in Kashan) before he chose poetry as the main field.

Sohrab Sepehri

Sohrab Sepehri (Persianسهراب سپهری‎‎) (October 7, 1928 – April 21, 1980) was a notable Iranian poet and a painter.

He was born in KashanIran. He is considered to be one of the five most famous Iranian poets who have practiced modern poetry. Other practitioners of this form were Nima YoushijAhmad ShamlouMehdi Akhavan-Sales, and Forough Farrokhzad.

Sepehri was also one of Iran's foremost modernist painters.

Well-versed in Buddhism, mysticism and Western traditions, he mingled the Western concepts with Eastern ones, thereby creating a kind of poetry unsurpassed in the history of Persian literature. To him, new forms were new means to express his thoughts and feelings.

His poetry has been translated into many languages including EnglishFrenchSpanishGermanItalianSwedishArabicTurkishand Russian. An English translation of his selected poems by Ali Salami appeared in 2003.

Sepehri died in Pars hospital in Tehran of leukemia. His poetry is full of humanity and concern for human values. He loved nature and refers to it frequently.
